Even Pagans and Zombies Get It

I’m watching a bit more TV and movies, and falling asleep a lot more to documentaries and reality shows now that I’ve retired. Who knew there were whole shows devoted to lumberjacks, pawnbrokers, car customizers, and swamp people? Not to mention to hoarders, garage sale enthusiasts, and pickers. Should there be? Bread and circuses have been popular fare and anesthesia for some time now. This being said, popular entertainment demonstrates a better (higher?) understanding of baby-killing than many if not most churches.

HBO’s Six Feet Under, no friend to morality, Christianity, or life, has a crematorium director comment on how upset a father was over the death of his infant son. “When a baby dies, that’s a lot of dead hopes.” The US has been killing hopes by the millions for half a century, and because of chemical abortions, there is no real letup in sight.

Netflix’s (no friend to the above three mentioned either) movie Army of the Dead has this memorable scene at the 1 hour 40 minute mark. The king of the Zombies recovers the headless body of his queen. Plunging his hands into her stomach, he pulls out an unborn child. Such a roar of pain and rage comes out of him and is echoed by the army of Zombies that your speakers shake.

Five Came Back: The Reference Films is a 1945 documentary series produced for the Homefront during and after WWII. Netflix’s has a series on them. I didn’t watch it. I did watch the documentaries themselves. Netflix says of them, “This collection includes 12 World War II-era propaganda films — many of which are graphic and offensive.” Every high schooler – strike that – every high schooler, college student, and non-baby boomer should be required to watch these.

The first one is about the Nazi concentration camps. This is pretty raw footage, but watch as the German town leaders and townspeople whose town was just a stone’s throw away are marched through the camps, made to look at the burial pits, and in some cases made to bury ghastly decomposing bodies. One German town pleaded they knew nothing about what was happening in there, though they had dug up and moved the bodies of the people the Nazi’s had killed because the smell was so bad.

Now that baby-killing is more chemical than physical, we can no longer be marched through the abortion facilities to see the torturing, murdering, and experimenting on the unborn that has gone on under our nose for 50 years. Moreover, the people who did something like that, David Daleiden and Sandra Merritt, were charged with a crime when the exposed the crimes going on in Planned Parenthood “clinics”.

Finally, watch The Purge this is a film of a dystopian USA society – really it’s a thinly veiled attack on Trump, Tea Party politics, and the Right Wing. Once a year, the New Founding Fathers of America to restore order, reduce crime, and improve economics, have an annual one night purge where laws are suspended. The movie shows you that their real targets are the poor, the broken, the homeless, the drug addicts, the helpless. With all the moral outrage that the left can muster, and it’s a bunch, the one white guy and 4 minority heroes go against the all-white New Founding Fathers.

In my September 4, 2012 blog Where Have all The Criminals Gone?, I cite the book Freakonomics and their contention that the precipitate drop in crime of the mid-90s could be attributed to the legalization of abortion 20 years earlier. We know that baby-killing among African Americans and the down-and-out in general happens disproportional to their percentage of the population.

So in the fictional “Purge” the left accuses the right of what the left has actually done for 50 years and wants to continue to do ad infinitum. Now the right via your Hitlers and Mussolinis are capable of purging as well. But the modern left is more “successful” at it. Even pagans and Zombies can tell you that.

About Paul Harris

Pastor Harris retired from congregational ministry after 40 years in office on 31 December 2023. He is now devoting himself to being a husband, father, and grandfather. He still thinks cenobitic monasticism is overrated and cave dwelling under.
